Protein Shakes for Muscle Recovery

By Ryan P. Bressler

Protein shakes are great way to sneak healthy foods into your diet. Why skip breakfast? You can make a fast, easy, and delicious protein shake or smoothie! Protein shakes are packed with lean healthy protein, fruits, and sometimes even vegetables and super foods! Shakes and smoothies truly are the new fast food.

Protein shakes are healthy and easy way to add extra protein to your diet. You can add plant based protein powders, which usually consist of mushroom, brown rice, hemp, pea, or cranberry protein. This is a great option for vegetarians as plant based protein powders contain zero animal ingredients. Vegetarians can also add nuts, seeds, and legumes for extra protein.

It's easy to turn a plant based protein shake into a green smoothie with the addition of some tasty raw greens. Try adding spinach, kale, or avocado. You could also add freeze dried super foods such as wheatgrass, oat grass, and barley grass.

Plant based protein shakes are a perfect way to add super foods to your diet. My favorite super foods are coconut oil, raw honey, and raw cacao. You can also add super foods like spirulina, chlorella, and acai berry. Super foods are full of nutrients such as vitamins, minerals, healthy fats, and even antioxidants!

Avoid adding whey protein powders to a plant based protein shake, Whey is a highly processed animal product that does not generally contain live nutrients. Whey protein is also a NO GO for vegetarians. Try to avoid soy protein powders and milks as well. Some studies suggest that over consumption of soy can lead to negative side effects.

In conclusion, protein shakes are an easy and healthy way to add nutrients to your diet. Diets high in protein may also lead to weight loss, which is a positive for most people. Protein shakes can also be used to reduce muscle soreness after a workout and build strong lean muscle overtime. Refer to this article for great tips on making shakes and smoothies!
