Get Your Boys To Eat Greens

By George Dodson

Back in our childhood days, many if not all were always reminded by parents to eat veggies to stay strong and healthy.

Needles to say, although veggies are a great benefit to ones health, it actually doesn't always taste as good as those of fruits. In this regard, it will depend of course upon the persons' taste buds.

Most of us know that vegetables are good for you. Equipped with vitamins and minerals, vegetables are a must eat and should always be added in our daily meal. They also vary in texture and color.

Although these vitamins and minerals can be taken from supplements and drinks, it doesn't actually guarantee its effectiveness as that of taking it from eating vegetables. Thus, we really need to teach our children to eat veggies. However, its really not easy feeding kids with veggies - is there an easy way to do it?

A good approach is to prepare vegetables that are easy to eat and with sweet taste then eventually try to add bit and pieces of other vegetables on the meal. You can try putting sugar on your meal or add squash. You might saute carrots in butter and other flavors such as garlic and, which modifies the taste and makes them more palatable. You can opt for cauliflowers or broccoli since these vegetables are palatable for children when sauted or cooked with various sauces. That mask the taste that you get when you either boil or heat interactive vegetables in some other way..

As most of us will attest to, most of vegetables taste all right in their natural state. There's probably a reason how these vegetables taste how they are. You can actually eat off the vegetable right off from its vine just like the tomato for example. Also, carrots can be the sweetest vegetable depending on how they're grown. However, this is not the case with regards to root crop veggies such as turnips and rutabagas.

In the same manner as potatoes and squash, these vegetables can be prepared by adding seasonings and sauteing for a better taste.

Boiling vegetables is probably the worst way of making it edible. You retain most of the vitamins and minerals in the vegetables themselves, they taste more like their natural state, and are much easier to fix. If you prepare them out then Al Dente, they are firm to the bite and taste more like their natural state.

Let's face it, vegetables are nature's way of providing you with the essential vitamins and minerals plus the fiber that you need for a healthy diet. Getting your children to eat them is not difficult if you use your imagination, consider what they like, and prepare those that are not so tasteful in ways that seem to mask the taste. This way, you know your children are getting their essential vitamins and minerals in a form that nature provides for maximum digestion.
