A Brief Guide To Acne Treatment Worcester

By Anita Ortega

Anyone who suffers from spots on their skin is likely to find it difficult. It can make people feel more self conscious. While it is often thought of as a condition that affects children and teenagers it can affect adults as well. However it is important to be aware of the type you have in order to get the appropriate acne treatment Worcester.

Before getting treatment it helps to know the version of the condition you have. The most common type is known as acne vulgaris. This is caused by excess oil in the skin. This then clogs the pores and it is this clogging that results in blackheads, whiteheads, cysts and so forth on the skin.

The most mild form of spot on the skin are whiteheads and blackheads. While this may not be something you want to see before a night out they do not result in any inflammation. This means that they can be dealt with using normal products available on the market. Remember to avoid trying to pop whiteheads and blackheads with your fingers as the oil in your fingers will result in more forming in the long term.

The next and slightly more severe form of spot on the skin are pustules and papules. Pustules also tend to be more commonly referred to as pimples. In both cases they tend to occur as a result of inflammation on the skin and therefore tend to be more painful than whiteheads and blackheads.

The most severe form are cysts and nodules. They are larger than pustules and pimples. As well as the pain of inflammation they also tend to be full of pus. This then means that you are more likely to get scarring and it will take longer time to recover from them than other forms of acne.

This type of condition can often be treated using salicylic acid and bezoyl peroxide. These are the ingredients common in a lot of cleansers you can purchase in various stores. The acid clears away the dead skin cells that cause build up in the pores while the peroxide clears away the bacteria.

People tend to think this will go away in adult life. However there is a version of this condition that tends to only occur in people over the age of 30. This is known as acne rosacea and tends to be more common among women than men. It has the symptoms of vulgaris but also features rashes than occur on the face around the chin, cheeks and nose. Unfortunately this is not something that can be cured but it is possible to use treatments to reduce the symptoms and generally make sure that patients can maintain self confidence.

There are a number of ways to find appropriate treatment in Worcester. As well as finding customer reviews of products that can reduce inflammation and clear pores you can also find information on specialist dermatologists in your local area. If you are concerned about your condition you should talk to your doctor to see if they could recommend a specialist dermatologist who can help you with your condition and allow you to find appropriate treatment. With a sensible approach you can find the best options to suit your long term skincare needs.
