Hha Training In The Bronx

By Estelle Larsen

A home health aide or an HHA for short, is a person who takes care of elderly people who have certain illnesses or disabilities that restrict them from doing everyday routines. Now the place that has a very high count of centers that treat the elderly would be the bronx. Most people who would go into this field would receive hha training in the bronx because of the high number of centers that are present in the area.

Of course when he would first begin this program, he will be given a slight introduction on how the job is going to be. First, he will be learning about how elderly patients are different from regular patients. They will be learning the ways on how to act when they are inside the center and with the patients.

First thing that will be taught would be how to keep a sanitary environment. This is extremely important because elderly people cannot take dirty environments as their health are at risk from germs, bacteria and other pathogens. So it is very important that an aide knows how to keep the place clean for the senior citizens there.

After the introductory stage, one will learn all about the daily routines that are done in the center. Some of the standard operating procedures in a center would be the checking of vital statistics like the pulse rates and temperature. Aside from those, the aides will also be learning how to help the patients dress up, bathe, and eat.

Now another thing that the trainees would be taught would be how to do simple massages for the patients. Unlike regular patients, there is a certain way to massage elderly patients as their muscles are not as strong as when they were young. Of course they aides will also be aiding the patients with their daily exercises.

Of course after learning those basic things, then they will then be learning about the more difficult things to do in the center. They will first be learning use the medical equipment of the center. These medical equipment would include the ventilators, the oxygen tanks, and many more other kinds of equipment in the center.

Included in the training program would also be basic CPR or life saving techniques. This is very important because one will never know when the patients will be needing some CPR because they cannot breathe all of a sudden. Aside from that, the aides will also learn of the dietary programs of the patients so that they will know what food to serve.

Basically, these are some of the things that one will be learning in home health aide training. Now for aides to really be able to practice this profession, they would first have to take an exam. If they pass the exam, then they will receive a certification that will officially allow them to be able to practice. If they do not first pass the examination, then they will not be able to find a job in any center.
