Every one of your body fluids have different pH readings. Some are alkaline others acidic. One example is gastric acid. It needs to have a low pH (Acidic) or your food would not be digested. your blood is required to be slightly alkaline or you'll die.
Your body maintains these balances all on it's own without the aid of alkaline water.
Keeping the above in mind it would be interesting to see just what happens when you drink a glass of alkaline water. First it would enter your stomach where the stomach juices would strip it of it's alkalinity. From there it would pass into the large intestine where it would again get alkalized.
If we're on the subject of biology, we will discuss what would happen if you drank a glass of alkaline ionized water. Your very acidic gastric juices will strip the water of alkalinity.
