Maximize The Benefits Of Juicing

Most people don't get their needed daily allotment of fruits and vegetables. With busy schedules it can be all too easy to neglect this important part of a healthy diet. Often people try to compensate for their bad habits with store-bought juices that promise to give you a daily allowance in just one or two cups of their product. As tempting as this may be - it can be an expensive way to get your fruits and vegetables. And let's not forget that these products are loaded with unwanted preservatives! Why not consider making your own juice?

We all know that there are many benefits that come from eating our fruits and vegetables. The essential nutrients and vitamins they contain help us maintain our health and new research shows they may even play a role in preventing and curing some illness. Did you know that cabbage juice helps prevent peptic ulcers? The red pigment found in cherries is thought to ease gout and aid joint movement. Cranberry juice is well-known to help with bladder infections too. There are so many ways that fruits and vegetables help us that we should all be making an extra effort to make sure we eat a very well balanced diet.

So why not take the easy way out and just buy some V8 and call it a day? Store bought juices are processed and the processing often destroys most of the benefits that come from eating fruits and vegetables. Many are also made from concentrate that has been stored for long periods of time with preservatives that deteriorate the essential nutrients and may even cause cancer. Just recently, Dr. Oz criticized the juice industry for the very high level of toxins (arsenic) found in them.

Though you may buy a juice that you think is "Made in America" under our strict safety standards, the juice makers often purchase their concentrates from countries like China who do not have strict inspections and controls to protect your safety. Many of the juices Dr. Oz tested had levels that far exceeded U.S. national safety levels. (Arsenic is sometimes found - naturally occurring - in very, very small levels in water, so there are nationally accepted levels that are known to be safe.) With concerns like these, making your own juice becomes an increasingly attractive idea!

Making your own juice helps you control the quality of the fruits and vegetables you use and ensures freshness. Whenever possible, choose organic fruits and vegetables, wash thoroughly and juice shortly after purchase.

Juicing doesn't have to become an onerous task. With the right equipment it need not take long at all!
